In an interview with Spanish website Xataka, From Software President and director of Bloodborne, Hidetaka Miyazaki, was asked about the Bloodborne Easter Egg that appeared in the recent VR title, Deracine, which many assumed to be a tease for the sequel. The interview was translated by Reddit user ‘Grant us eyes’ and in it Miyazaki commented that the Easter Egg wasn’t meant to imply anything and that he’s not in a position to talk about a potential sequel:
Miyazaki was also asked if the Easter Egg was meant to suggest that Bloodborne was actually a fever dream of the ill girl, Yuliya. Miyazaki didn’t provide a concrete answer, simply stating “… this is exactly the conversation that my team and I had. It’s the kind of conversation we keep during development, because there are Easter eggs…” His vague answer is most likely to keep the mystery going and let fans come to their own conclusions.
It’s entirely possible that Bloodborne 2 is being planned for release on the next generation of consoles; specifically the long-rumored PlayStation 5, which would explain why Miyazaki is unable to comment on it. Or maybe it simply doesn’t exist. Regardless, it’s unlikely that we’ll hear anything about the title soon, so don’t expect some out-of-nowhere reveal at the Game Awards happening this week, for example. However, gamers can still look forward to some surprise reveals this Friday, including a potential Crash Team Racing remaster.
Bloodborne is currently available exclusively on PS4.
