Margit is the first true challenge that Elden Ring players will come across in The Lands Between, with many seeing him as more difficult than Godrick and other major bosses. A proper wall for players, some gamers will go around the castle to avoid this fight entirely or overlevel their Elden Ring character before they even attempt to battle Margit. In the case of Reddit user Tenshiretto, neither strategy was necessary, as the version of Margit they fought was more forgetful than usual.

One of the reasons that Elden Ring’s Margit boss is so difficult is that his attacks are incredibly tough to predict. This is because Margit will often delay his attacks for several seconds before landing one, slamming down his weapon unexpectedly or summoning another weapon quickly to attack in a way players were not prepared for. For whatever reason, though, the version of Margit that Tenshiretto fought was completely confused by what the Tarnished was doing, and as a result they never followed up on the move that they had set up.

The reason behind Margit’s confusion may be tied to the rolling done by the Elden Ring player. They roll constantly throughout the clip, never running out of stamina and sticking behind Margit’s back while he continues to turn. Since the AI has no reason to deliver the attack, it seemingly gets bored after several seconds and abandons the move in favor of something else that might hit the Tarnished. While the fight goes back to normal after this moment, seeing a boss completely change their mind is both unexpected and entertaining.

Elden Ring fans responded very well to the post, as it has received a staggering 49,000 upvotes since it was posted. This overwhelming response is reflective of just how successful Elden Ring is, as the game’s fan base is massive, with many still enjoying discussion about FromSoftware’s latest release over a month after its launch. The comments on the post were plenty of fun, with gamers adjusting Margit’s quotes to make him more forgetful - allowing his personality to match his moveset as seen in this clip.

Next time players start a new game plus run in Elden Ring, trying to recreate this strategy may be worthwhile. While it is hilarious to see, it is also practical, as gamers can completely counter one of Margit’s most unpredictable attacks through some nonstop rolling.

Elden Ring is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
