The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim features a follower system where players can ask NPC allies to join their adventures. These followers will fight enemies alongside the Dragonborn, and they are also useful for carrying items and equipment. Lydia is perhaps the most famous follower in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, and one fan now shows a funny clip involving a stupid decision she made in their game.

In a recent post on Reddit, a user named RefrigeratorOk4674 has shared a hilarious clip of Lydia deciding to simply walk off a snowy cliff in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. The video shows RefrigeratorOk4674 playing in first-person mode with a bow equipped. The user picks up an iron arrow before switching to Skyrim’s third-person perspective, only to find Lydia crouching past them and hilariously falling off the cliff.
It looks like the player wanted to the cross the gap using the natural bridge in front, but Lydia’s movement was way off the mark. However, she could have survived the fall, as one user claims that there could be water at the bottom. RefrigeratorOk4674 mentions that this incident took place at Steepfall Burrow, prompting the other player to confirm that there is indeed water at the bottom of the cliff. They speculate that Lydia’s AI fell off the cliff because it believes the water below to be a safe location.
Lydia’s incompetence doesn’t end there as RefrigeratorOk4674 mentions that she died again during a fight against a Frost Troll. Lydia is perhaps infamous for always getting into trouble within the Skyrim community, and some users are likely used to encountering such incidents whenever she is around. One fan of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim recently asked other players to share the stories behind how their Lydia died in the game. This post received an astounding 3,600 comments with gamers sharing funny stories about her fate in their playthroughs.
Lydia is one of the first followers players will meet in Skyrim, but they can choose from a variety of NPCs. Gamers can also download Skyrim mods that add followers, further increasing the available options.
